1. The best domain names are those that are guided by the current news. Is there a new discovery that has been made? Write down the name of that discovery fast. Then add 'www.' and '.com' to it so that it reads something like 'www.yournewdiscovery.com' replacing the 'yournewdiscovery' with what you have found. The '.com' part may also be replaced by .net, .org, .co.uk, .ws and so on depending of what you desire. What you will have formed now is a domain name. Let me illustrate with a globally known phenomena, the Tsunami. If you heard about this hurricane and then made a domain name immediately, there would be so many people interested in making a website revolving around this name. That means that if you bought all possible domains that would go with 'Tsunami' e.g. .com,.net, .org, .co.uk and so on, anyone who wants to make a related website would have to buy the domain from you. Depending on the demand, you could make yourself a huge load of money from a single global event or calamity.

2. Celebrity names: Do you know any upcoming musician or actor or a possible celebrity who has no website yet? Coil a domain name using their name and wait for them to come around to their senses. When they realize that they need a website to promote themselves, they will discover that someone already owns that domain name. This will lead to them making an offer to you for sale of that domain name to them. Now, you have what they want and they have no option but to agree to your terms.

You can also contact the celeb before they contact you and make an offer to sell them the domain name. Assuming that you bought the domain name at $9 and then you sell it at $700. What percentage profit margin is this?
